Narrative:
An excessive delay after taxi clearance was involved prior to takeoff. Distrs included difficulty paralleling generators, problems with the captain's radio panel and excessive bird activity in the departure area. The routing filed and normally flown was discussed. We were cleared for takeoff and on lift off I realized that I had failed to receive the airways clearance. I contacted tower and they confirmed that we were cleared as filed FL270. Distraction and a sequence of events where you receive the airways clearance at a point in time that differs from what is normal in the states led us down the wrong path.
