Narrative:
Upon initial power application for takeoff, takeoff warning horn sounded. Discontinued takeoff and taxied clear of runway. Horn had been checked on taxi checklist. All controls appeared to be positioned normally but actual position of speed (spoiler) brake handle could not be verified as it was extended as part of abort procedure. Ran up engines on taxiway with tower permission and could not duplicate problem. Aircraft was a model recently purchased from another air carrier and had automatic spoiler system which was deactivated. Our company's aircraft had manual spoilers. Believe difference in systems accounted for horn activation. With takeoff warning system now fully operational completed uneventful takeoff and flight.
