Narrative:
Departing sfo air carrier X was instructed to taxi to runway 10R on the outer and taxiway X. Approaching runway we followed a sign to the left. Rain and standing water obscured the surface markings and we stopped while trying to establish the proper route to the runway. Ground controller advised us we were off the taxiway entirely. We were on hard surface taxiway sierra. We suggested a left turn and proceeded to our runway.
