Narrative:
It was a helicopter training flight which was originally planned as hovering practice. The student progressed well on hovering practice and I decided to fly in traffic pattern. We inadvertently forgot that not only was this an air traffic area but also a control zone with ft campbell, ky. The mins were below that for IFR but alright for SVFR. Our radio was in shop for repair. We flew approximately 10 mins in traffic pattern before we realized we could not do this. We maintained VFR conditions all during the flight.
