Narrative:
Air carrier X was descending to FL290. He needed to get down to FL240 as he was an arrival. Air carrier X had air carrier Y at FL280 in sight. I pointed out air carrier Y to air carrier X. I started to point out traffic to air carrier Y who wanted FL270, but had traffic at FL270 (air carrier Z). As I was pointing out his traffic, I noticed air carrier X altitude of FL287. I immediately asked his altitude. He reported he was level at FL290. Adep went off between air carrier X and Y. Next, I see air carrier Y altitude at FL278. I asked him to verify level at FL280 and he replied he had a TCASII alert and was descending. I immediately told him that air carrier X above him was level at FL290 and to climb back up to FL280. The adep did not go off between air carrier Y and air carrier Z as there was about 5-6 mi separation.
