Narrative:
Air carrier X right downwind ILS 3 sat lvl 6000 ft IFR. ATC issued normal TA on (merlin) Y climbing to 5000 ft. We noticed a Y on TCASII change white to yellow as it continued climb through 5000 ft we were about to query ATC when we received TCASII RA to descend. In accordance with RA we descended out of RA and notified ATC. We were slow to believe initial RA because the picture it presented appeared we would descend onto climbing aircraft. However, after a matter of seconds we chose to believe the RA and descended.
