Narrative:

Company has stopped providing crew meals to its flcs. The intent of this new and onerous policy to save money. The result is the risk of inadequate sustenance and nourishment for flcs and increased risk of accident or incident. Let me give you an example. Jan/92 schedule for large transport in houston, pairing XXXX. Day 2 and 3 of this pairing does not allow for a meal after XA30. The crew meal policy prior to nov/91 was to provide meals when there was less than 2 hours of ground time. As you can see there is 1:07 maximum of ground time between flts on this portion of the pairing. The arrival of both ft meyers and newark are late and after closing for restaurants. Most important! The hotel in ft meyers does not have a restaurant. They provide free doughnuts and coffee and have vending machines available. Yes, there is microwaveable scrambled eggs for sale in the machine but no place to eat them. Also, this hotel is in a remote area and transport is by contract carrier. We arrive about XX00. No one is in a hurry to get up, call a cabin attendant to go to a restaurant. Options? 'Brown bagging' is not very realistic. A person would have to carry a lot of prepackaged food that does not require cooking or refrigeration. Charge us for passenger meals? The monthly mentioned price in the chief pilot's office is $9-10! Passenger don't pay for meals, they are complementary. In truth, let me point out that so far there has been enough left over from 'the back' that we haven't gone hungry yet. But with catering shortages and irregular operations the possibility is real, not to mention problems caused by low moral due to this callous treatment.
