Narrative:
Due to scheduled shuttle launch, ATC cleared our flight to proceed after omn VOR via J45 (183 degree) instead of 161 degree to vera beach the as filed. The first officer was receiving his IOE and programming the FMS. He checked the maximum for new route and programmed the FMS and glanced at the chart but did not realize that J45 has an unnamed intersection (X) when the omn radial intersects the vera beach radial. This looks like an easy mistake since we both came to the same conclusion and did not realize our mistake until the center called to give our jet a vector back to J45 and give the launch area more clearance. I don't think it was a serious problem as the launch went off 2 hours later.
