Narrative:

I was planning on taking a night VFR to savannah, GA, from orlando, fl, aircraft had previously had alternator replaced. During preflight, and engine run-up, I checked ammeter for plus reading. It read ok, I took off, and was told to contact departure from by tower, I contacted departure and they responded by saying they had difficulty in hearing transmission. I then noticed instrument lights were blinking, I then check ammeter and I was showing a discharge. I shut off all naval equipment and looked on sectional chart for nearby airport. At this point I was 10 mi north of orlando executive, I realized at any non-controled airport, the runways could not be activated without electrical power. I chose to head back to orlando executive at 1000 ft for landing. While maintaining vigilance, I entered a left base for runway 7. There was an aircraft on final about 5 mi out, I was looking for any light gun signals, before turning final. I made a no flap landing and cleared the runway. Then I received a flashing green light and I taxied back and tied down aircraft. Goaa. (Greater orlando aviation authority) stopped by and checked on me.

Title: SMA PLT ON A NIGHT OP EXPERIENCES A LOSS OF PRIMARY ELECTRICAL PWR AND PERFORMS A MODIFICATION OF THE LOST COM PROC WHEN UNABLE TO ESTABLISH RADIO CONTACT.

Narrative: I WAS PLANNING ON TAKING A NIGHT VFR TO SAVANNAH, GA, FROM ORLANDO, FL, ACFT HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD ALTERNATOR REPLACED. DURING PREFLT, AND ENG RUN-UP, I CHKED AMMETER FOR PLUS READING. IT READ OK, I TOOK OFF, AND WAS TOLD TO CONTACT DEP FROM BY TWR, I CONTACTED DEP AND THEY RESPONDED BY SAYING THEY HAD DIFFICULTY IN HEARING XMISSION. I THEN NOTICED INST LIGHTS WERE BLINKING, I THEN CHK AMMETER AND I WAS SHOWING A DISCHARGE. I SHUT OFF ALL NAVAL EQUIP AND LOOKED ON SECTIONAL CHART FOR NEARBY ARPT. AT THIS POINT I WAS 10 MI N OF ORLANDO EXECUTIVE, I REALIZED AT ANY NON-CTLED ARPT, THE RWYS COULD NOT BE ACTIVATED WITHOUT ELECTRICAL PWR. I CHOSE TO HEAD BACK TO ORLANDO EXECUTIVE AT 1000 FT FOR LNDG. WHILE MAINTAINING VIGILANCE, I ENTERED A L BASE FOR RWY 7. THERE WAS AN ACFT ON FINAL ABOUT 5 MI OUT, I WAS LOOKING FOR ANY LIGHT GUN SIGNALS, BEFORE TURNING FINAL. I MADE A NO FLAP LNDG AND CLRED THE RWY. THEN I RECEIVED A FLASHING GREEN LIGHT AND I TAXIED BACK AND TIED DOWN ACFT. GOAA. (GREATER ORLANDO AVIATION AUTHORITY) STOPPED BY AND CHKED ON ME.
