Narrative:
I filed an IFR flight plan using duat+, with the preferred route from hpn-mke the route was over dkk J-36 fnt direct mke V-2 sudds. After (filing) 2 more flight plans I revised the hpn mke flight to read dkk direct mke V-2 sudds. We received our clearance - cleared as filed - when in the area of fnt ATC advised we were not on the airway we told him we had filed dkk mke. The revised flight plan for some reason never got into the system and checking with ATC they had the routing for our first flight plan. When we checked our position from fnt VOR we were only 5 mi off the course at 50 DME. No evasive action was taken. With a revised flight plan filed, the route needs to be checked before departure or prior to reaching that portion of the revised route. When FSS files a revised flight plan they notate a change and a full route clearance is given.

Title: DEV FROM FLT PLAN CLRNC RTE.
Narrative: I FILED AN IFR FLT PLAN USING DUAT+, WITH THE PREFERRED RTE FROM HPN-MKE THE RTE WAS OVER DKK J-36 FNT DIRECT MKE V-2 SUDDS. AFTER (FILING) 2 MORE FLT PLANS I REVISED THE HPN MKE FLT TO READ DKK DIRECT MKE V-2 SUDDS. WE RECEIVED OUR CLRNC - CLRED AS FILED - WHEN IN THE AREA OF FNT ATC ADVISED WE WERE NOT ON THE AIRWAY WE TOLD HIM WE HAD FILED DKK MKE. THE REVISED FLT PLAN FOR SOME REASON NEVER GOT INTO THE SYS AND CHKING WITH ATC THEY HAD THE RTING FOR OUR FIRST FLT PLAN. WHEN WE CHKED OUR POS FROM FNT VOR WE WERE ONLY 5 MI OFF THE COURSE AT 50 DME. NO EVASIVE ACTION WAS TAKEN. WITH A REVISED FLT PLAN FILED, THE RTE NEEDS TO BE CHKED BEFORE DEP OR PRIOR TO REACHING THAT PORTION OF THE REVISED RTE. WHEN FSS FILES A REVISED FLT PLAN THEY NOTATE A CHANGE AND A FULL RTE CLRNC IS GIVEN.
