Narrative:
En route to the PER38 fix on our flight plan; ZKC wanted to verify our filed fix. We had programmed the PER160038 vice the filed fix of PER016038. Center reclred us to the fix we had programmed and advised us that other flts had programmed the same incorrect fix. No further incidents occurred the remainder of the flight. Even though we had to change aircraft at stl with minimum turn-around time; we need to be more diligent xchking the route on the FMS during preflight.
