Narrative:
On the south boston arrival at 8000 ft ATC advised us of 12 O'clock traffic climbing to 7000 ft within seconds of that advisory call, the TCASII issued a TA for the traffic followed by an RA. The captain who was flying the aircraft followed the RA and we climbed to 8900 ft MSL. I advised ATC that the TCASII wants us to climb. He acknowledged the call. At 8900 ft MSL we received a clear of traffic from the TCASII. I advised ATC that we have terminated the climb. He instructed us to descend and maintain 8000 ft. We did and the flight proceeded normally.
