Narrative:
My copilot notified the company sat that he was calling himself off so he wouldn't run into 7 days straight. He explained that he had started on mon at around PM00 and he was through that sat evening. The company interprets the regulations as 24 hours to 24 hours instead of a calendar day. First officer disagreed and I spoke to them and disagreed. With the threat of suspension and/or termination, we were forced to go under protest. Presently both the pilot group, alpa, and the company are waiting for legal clarification from the FAA's legal head in washington, dc.
