Narrative:
We were cleared to taxi from gate to runway 29R. It was a heavy departure time for traffic as we approached the end of 29R, approximately 3000 ft, prior we still did not have our ACARS weight data. In order not to block access to the runway we asked ground if we could pull over into the post office ramp to wait for our numbers. Ground approved. Our numbers came up as we pulled into the pad. We attempted contact with ground 5 times. The frequency was congested. Map has dual ground frequency and of 10 only one controller working both. We can not often hear other aircraft when they transmit due to location on airport, or being blocked out by an aircraft on the other ground frequency. Since there was no other traffic within 300 ft of us we attempted to repos the aircraft so ground could hear us. He reclred us to 29R but told us to follow a company aircraft from our position that aircraft was behind us and there was no way to follow it. We tried to explain this to ground 3 times but got stepped on by other aircraft that couldn't hear us. We switched to tower than and take him we were first in line.

WE CAN NOT OFTEN HEAR OTHER ACFT WHEN THEY XMIT DUE TO LOCATION ON ARPT, OR BEING BLOCKED OUT BY AN ACFT ON THE OTHER GND FREQ.
