Narrative:

While attempting to start the aircraft the engine would not start. After shutting down the generator and ignition I proceeded to check the engine for fuel flooding of the engine. While standing off to the side of the engine, I attempted to move the propeller out of the way, and the engine started. The plane with nobody aboard moved approximately 10-12 ft into the front of a closed aircraft hangar. The engine stopped at this time, leaving a hole approximately 7 ft by 5 ft in the hangar door. The aircraft had its propeller ends bent and broken. Also the right wing tip struck the hangar door, breaking the plastic wing tip. At the time of the accident the temperature was 15-20 degree F, with ice on the taxiway. The brakes were set, though the aircraft slid along the ice, making the brakes useless. The major lesson learned was to treat the propeller as if it will start at any time. Because of being careful around the propeller, there were no injuries. Everything happened too fast for any useful reaction to take place, except to stay out of the way.
