Narrative:
We were given a crossing restr of 15 NM southeast of yng VOR at FL240. The first officer was flying the leg and acknowledged the clearance. He did some typing on the CDU and executed a capture and descent. A pre-programmed point had been put in to cross noels at 10000 ft. I became suspicious that the first officer may not be interpreting his heading correctly, and it became evident to me that we may not make the restr. I mentioned this to the first officer expecting him to make a correction. He looked at the box and made no correction. Unfortunately, I waited too long to try and get him to see his error and correct it. The error was obvious but combine that and his unexpected reaction of doing nothing, and a strong tailwind resulted in missing the restr by over 500 ft. Moral: speak up sooner and ensure that a timely correction is made.

Title: ACR MISSES XING RESTRICTION.
Narrative: WE WERE GIVEN A XING RESTR OF 15 NM SE OF YNG VOR AT FL240. THE FO WAS FLYING THE LEG AND ACKNOWLEDGED THE CLRNC. HE DID SOME TYPING ON THE CDU AND EXECUTED A CAPTURE AND DSCNT. A PRE-PROGRAMMED POINT HAD BEEN PUT IN TO CROSS NOELS AT 10000 FT. I BECAME SUSPICIOUS THAT THE FO MAY NOT BE INTERPRETING HIS HDG CORRECTLY, AND IT BECAME EVIDENT TO ME THAT WE MAY NOT MAKE THE RESTR. I MENTIONED THIS TO THE FO EXPECTING HIM TO MAKE A CORRECTION.
