Narrative:

On climb out from cvg, passing through 17000 ft, a loud bang was heard and yaw felt. #1 engine instruments were observed spooling down. No abnormal indications were noted before this. The captain continued to fly as had been briefed and directed myself and the so to accomplish the appropriate abnormal checklist. This was accomplished uneventfully. We returned to cvg immediately and made a normal 2 engine landing.
