Narrative:
After the before start checklist were complete and a pushback clearance was received both engines were started using normal engine start procedures. First engine #2 the #1. All engine indications were normal and stable. The after start flows were complete when the #1 engine tgt warning went off with the throttles at idle. The engine was shut down with the temperature reaching 535 degrees C. Then the #2 engine tgt warning went off as I was securing engine #1. Engine #2 was then shut down with the temperature reaching 600 degrees C. The engine tgt emergency checklist was performed and then maintenance called.
