Narrative:

Original clearance was daisetta 1 arrival, houston hobby. Center changed clearance to: present heading to intercept humble 045 degree radial, batsn 1 arrival. Center asked if we were on batsn arrival and told us to turn further 25 degrees right to intercept. We discovered that both radios were tuned to hobby (117.6) instead of humble (116.6). It might help reduce human factor errors if hobby and humble had names that started with different letters and had dissimilar frequencys (117.6) - (116.6). When unexpected clrncs are received then names and frequencys of navaids should be more distinctive.

Title: NAV ERROR WHEN THE WRONG VOR IS TUNED APCHING IAH.

Narrative: ORIGINAL CLRNC WAS DAISETTA 1 ARR, HOUSTON HOBBY. CTR CHANGED CLRNC TO: PRESENT HDG TO INTERCEPT HUMBLE 045 DEG RADIAL, BATSN 1 ARR. CTR ASKED IF WE WERE ON BATSN ARR AND TOLD US TO TURN FURTHER 25 DEGS R TO INTERCEPT. WE DISCOVERED THAT BOTH RADIOS WERE TUNED TO HOBBY (117.6) INSTEAD OF HUMBLE (116.6). IT MIGHT HELP REDUCE HUMAN FACTOR ERRORS IF HOBBY AND HUMBLE HAD NAMES THAT STARTED WITH DIFFERENT LETTERS AND HAD DISSIMILAR FREQS (117.6) - (116.6). WHEN UNEXPECTED CLRNCS ARE RECEIVED THEN NAMES AND FREQS OF NAVAIDS SHOULD BE MORE DISTINCTIVE.
