Narrative:
Left hand engine was shut down due to low oil pressure. Aircraft landed at day airport without incident. Supplemental information from acn 208074: cpr jet at FL410 called on my frequency at FF0 hi sector requesting lower, I heard the request while I was coordinating something else, but before I could coordination with fwa hi (whose airspace cpr X was in) cpr pilot said 'we need lower immediately' and I observed light transport's mode C in a descent. I told cpr X to maintain FL330 at his discretion and asked if he had a problem (knowing he did). I asked his intentions. He told me he was having problems with his left engine, and he was going to need to land. I told him I was declaring an emergency for him and gave him the position of day airport at 3 O'clock and 60 mi if that was suitable. He told me it was. I gave him the current WX observation, and effected coordination to clear him direct and down to 11000 then gave frequency change to day approach. He landed without incident. When cpr light transport began his descent from FL410 he was in close proximity to another aircraft Y descending out of FL390 for FL350.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CPR JET PIC EXPERIENCES AN ALTDEV ALT EXCURSION DURING AN INFLT ENG SHUTDOWN. DIVERSION TO ALT ARPT DESIRED.
Narrative: L HAND ENG WAS SHUT DOWN DUE TO LOW OIL PRESSURE. ACFT LANDED AT DAY ARPT WITHOUT INCIDENT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 208074: CPR JET AT FL410 CALLED ON MY FREQ AT FF0 HI SECTOR REQUESTING LOWER, I HEARD THE REQUEST WHILE I WAS COORDINATING SOMETHING ELSE, BUT BEFORE I COULD COORD WITH FWA HI (WHOSE AIRSPACE CPR X WAS IN) CPR PLT SAID 'WE NEED LOWER IMMEDIATELY' AND I OBSERVED LTT'S MODE C IN A DSCNT. I TOLD CPR X TO MAINTAIN FL330 AT HIS DISCRETION AND ASKED IF HE HAD A PROBLEM (KNOWING HE DID). I ASKED HIS INTENTIONS. HE TOLD ME HE WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH HIS L ENG, AND HE WAS GOING TO NEED TO LAND. I TOLD HIM I WAS DECLARING AN EMER FOR HIM AND GAVE HIM THE POS OF DAY ARPT AT 3 O'CLOCK AND 60 MI IF THAT WAS SUITABLE. HE TOLD ME IT WAS. I GAVE HIM THE CURRENT WX OBSERVATION, AND EFFECTED COORD TO CLR HIM DIRECT AND DOWN TO 11000 THEN GAVE FREQ CHANGE TO DAY APCH. HE LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. WHEN CPR LTT BEGAN HIS DSCNT FROM FL410 HE WAS IN CLOSE PROX TO ANOTHER ACFT Y DSNDING OUT OF FL390 FOR FL350.
