Narrative:
I was on flight following from 2b2 -- plum island, ma, to frg -- republic, long island, ny, was in contact with ny approach control 126.95, 20 mi north had clearance to descend from 6500 ft to 2500 ft with landing at frg. Lost contact on frequency change with flight following. Contacted frg tower descended to 1500 ft. Tower said to stay northeast of field and enter right downwind to runway 32. On right base and realized I was at islip (next airport over) and not frg. Tower at frg aware at same time and told me to climb to 1500 ft with a heading of 270 degrees, which I did. Cleared to land at frg. Upon landing frg tower told me I had not been terminated from flight following. Long island area new to me.

Title: A LOW TIME SMA PLT WANDERED INTO THE ISP ARSA WHEN HIS INTENTION WAS TO LAND AT FRG.
Narrative: I WAS ON FLT FOLLOWING FROM 2B2 -- PLUM ISLAND, MA, TO FRG -- REPUBLIC, LONG ISLAND, NY, WAS IN CONTACT WITH NY APCH CTL 126.95, 20 MI N HAD CLRNC TO DSND FROM 6500 FT TO 2500 FT WITH LNDG AT FRG. LOST CONTACT ON FREQ CHANGE WITH FLT FOLLOWING. CONTACTED FRG TWR DSNDED TO 1500 FT. TWR SAID TO STAY NE OF FIELD AND ENTER R DOWNWIND TO RWY 32. ON R BASE AND REALIZED I WAS AT ISLIP (NEXT ARPT OVER) AND NOT FRG. TWR AT FRG AWARE AT SAME TIME AND TOLD ME TO CLB TO 1500 FT WITH A HDG OF 270 DEGS, WHICH I DID. CLRED TO LAND AT FRG. UPON LNDG FRG TWR TOLD ME I HAD NOT BEEN TERMINATED FROM FLT FOLLOWING. LONG ISLAND AREA NEW TO ME.
