Narrative:

During 1 flight, 2 deviations occurred. 1) while VFR in the west practice area of lnk, I was an instructor for a student working on her private license. There were some scattered clouds at approximately 5500 MSL. I received an IFR clearance block 4000-6000 to maneuver near our present position. Introducing the student to instrument scanning and basic IMC procedures for approximately 10 mins, we descended below the clouds to VMC. The next block of training was to practice emergency procedures and I surprised my student by simulating an engine failure. At 3200 ft MSL (lnk approach) ATC called to remind me of my IFR 4000-6000 clearance. I promptly cancelled and continued on with the flight. This occurred because I was in the habit of being VFR when in the practice area. Approximately 20 mins later we advised lnk approach that we were inbound for touch-and- goes. 2) lnk approach passed us over to tower (but not our request for touch-and-goes) and the tower cleared us to land. My student was planning on a touch-and-go, and after landing, applied full power. By this time, runway distance was very questionable and I elected to follow through with the touch-and-go. My student ignored the tower's clearance and I was not watching her closely enough to prevent the situation.

Title: AN SMA FLT INSTRUCTOR RPTED 2 INCIDENTS ON THE SAME FLT: FLYING OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF A BLOCK ALT WITHOUT CLRNC, AND MAKING A 'TOUCH AND GO' WITH A 'LNDG' CLRNC.

Narrative: DURING 1 FLT, 2 DEVS OCCURRED. 1) WHILE VFR IN THE W PRACTICE AREA OF LNK, I WAS AN INSTRUCTOR FOR A STUDENT WORKING ON HER PRIVATE LICENSE. THERE WERE SOME SCATTERED CLOUDS AT APPROX 5500 MSL. I RECEIVED AN IFR CLRNC BLOCK 4000-6000 TO MANEUVER NEAR OUR PRESENT POS. INTRODUCING THE STUDENT TO INST SCANNING AND BASIC IMC PROCS FOR APPROX 10 MINS, WE DSNDED BELOW THE CLOUDS TO VMC. THE NEXT BLOCK OF TRAINING WAS TO PRACTICE EMER PROCS AND I SURPRISED MY STUDENT BY SIMULATING AN ENG FAILURE. AT 3200 FT MSL (LNK APCH) ATC CALLED TO REMIND ME OF MY IFR 4000-6000 CLRNC. I PROMPTLY CANCELLED AND CONTINUED ON WITH THE FLT. THIS OCCURRED BECAUSE I WAS IN THE HABIT OF BEING VFR WHEN IN THE PRACTICE AREA. APPROX 20 MINS LATER WE ADVISED LNK APCH THAT WE WERE INBOUND FOR TOUCH-AND- GOES. 2) LNK APCH PASSED US OVER TO TWR (BUT NOT OUR REQUEST FOR TOUCH-AND-GOES) AND THE TWR CLRED US TO LAND. MY STUDENT WAS PLANNING ON A TOUCH-AND-GO, AND AFTER LNDG, APPLIED FULL PWR. BY THIS TIME, RWY DISTANCE WAS VERY QUESTIONABLE AND I ELECTED TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE TOUCH-AND-GO. MY STUDENT IGNORED THE TWR'S CLRNC AND I WAS NOT WATCHING HER CLOSELY ENOUGH TO PREVENT THE SITUATION.
