Narrative:

There were no out-of-the-ordinary events during the flight until landing. The approach to msp was to runway 11L. On the downwind to base leg, the cockpit received a bell chime from the flight attendant. It was not immediately answered due to FAA sterile cockpit requirements and my duties on approach to landing. Shortly thereafter my first officer attempted to contact the flight attendant via head set and then the cockpit telephone. There was no response. I directed the first officer to open the cockpit door to find out what was going on in the cabin. I was then informed by my first officer that a passenger was in distress. Msp approach control was immediately notified of an onboard medical situation. Medical personnel were requested to meet the aircraft when we landed. On landing, I exited the aircraft at taxiway Y and made an immediate right turn to gate Z. I shutdown the aircraft, the door was opened, medical personnel immediately entered the aircraft and took charge of the medical situation. The passenger was removed from the aircraft by medical personnel.
