Narrative:
Cruising at FL350 TCASII gave a 'traffic, traffic' alert. TCASII return showed target on scope about 10 mi ahead at our altitude. Return changed to red square and alert changed to 'descend, descend now.' descent carried out in green arc and ATC advised. At about FL340 ATC cleared us to FL240. RA return disappeared but no 'clear of conflict' signal. Requested and got clearance to maintain FL310.
