Narrative:
During an instrument competency chkride, I was being radar vectored for ILS 4 at janesville airport when the instructor simulated a vacuum failure by covering the dg and attitude indicator. Due to turbulence and distrs due to fuel indicator problems I deviated from the assigned heading by 180 degrees in a period of about 1 min. When advised of my deviation, I was given a new heading for spacing purposes. This could have been avoided by careful attention to the turn coordinator.
