Narrative:
The captain is flying the approach. We crossed the OM and finished our before landing checklist. After stowing the checklist, I checked the instruments and moved my scan outside the cockpit, and out of the hazy-smoky-foggy air appears a high wing small aircraft at 12 O'clock at about 1/4 mi and closing. The small aircraft seemed to be drifting to my right as it continued to climb. A collision was imminent. I yelled loudly to the captain 'left -- turn left now!' as he did, the small aircraft passed off our right at approximately 60 ft! Approach did not warn of any traffic until I mentioned it as the aircraft passed. I believe we need to upgrade the radar environment in the burbank area. Maybe another TCA.

Title: NMAC.
Narrative: THE CAPT IS FLYING THE APCH. WE CROSSED THE OM AND FINISHED OUR BEFORE LNDG CHKLIST. AFTER STOWING THE CHKLIST, I CHKED THE INSTS AND MOVED MY SCAN OUTSIDE THE COCKPIT, AND OUT OF THE HAZY-SMOKY-FOGGY AIR APPEARS A HIGH WING SMA AT 12 O'CLOCK AT ABOUT 1/4 MI AND CLOSING. THE SMA SEEMED TO BE DRIFTING TO MY R AS IT CONTINUED TO CLB. A COLLISION WAS IMMINENT. I YELLED LOUDLY TO THE CAPT 'L -- TURN L NOW!' AS HE DID, THE SMA PASSED OFF OUR R AT APPROX 60 FT! APCH DID NOT WARN OF ANY TFC UNTIL I MENTIONED IT AS THE ACFT PASSED. I BELIEVE WE NEED TO UPGRADE THE RADAR ENVIRONMENT IN THE BURBANK AREA. MAYBE ANOTHER TCA.
