Narrative:
The #2 engine nacelle hit a parked municiple truck. The truck was parked partially over the white safety line which was not recognizable to me as I 'self parked' the aircraft (i.e., no marshalling is required at pit gate). No one was injured. Dent and scrape was checked by maintenance personnel and noted by me in logbook -- signed off as 'well within FAA tolerances.' no interruption to scedule. I think contributing factors include: ramp is typically cluttered with ground equipment. Recognition of encroachment is difficult due to parallax -- diurnal time problem (west coast crew in east coast time frame/crew hotel departure time in clt was PM40 PDT. I got up at PM50 PDT). Truck had flat bed with low grate. I did not see a problem. Suggest narrow white safety line could be repainted with yellow double hashes or something that looks more like a safety line. Educate municiple truck drivers where to park. Use marshalling. Wing walkers versus self airport ramps.

Title: #2 NACELLE OR ACR MLG STRIKES IMPROPERLY PARKED GND VEHICLE DURING 'SELF PARK' IN RAMP OP ACFT PARKING PROC.
Narrative: THE #2 ENG NACELLE HIT A PARKED MUNICIPLE TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS PARKED PARTIALLY OVER THE WHITE SAFETY LINE WHICH WAS NOT RECOGNIZABLE TO ME AS I 'SELF PARKED' THE ACFT (I.E., NO MARSHALLING IS REQUIRED AT PIT GATE). NO ONE WAS INJURED. DENT AND SCRAPE WAS CHKED BY MAINT PERSONNEL AND NOTED BY ME IN LOGBOOK -- SIGNED OFF AS 'WELL WITHIN FAA TOLERANCES.' NO INTERRUPTION TO SCEDULE. I THINK CONTRIBUTING FACTORS INCLUDE: RAMP IS TYPICALLY CLUTTERED WITH GND EQUIP. RECOGNITION OF ENCROACHMENT IS DIFFICULT DUE TO PARALLAX -- DIURNAL TIME PROBLEM (W COAST CREW IN E COAST TIME FRAME/CREW HOTEL DEP TIME IN CLT WAS PM40 PDT. WING WALKERS VERSUS SELF ARPT RAMPS.
