Narrative:
Lax approach called VFR traffic estimated 500 ft below us at our 1 O'clock position and closing after we had leveled off at an assigned 10000 ft MSL. Shortly thereafter we received a TA on our TCASII, followed immediately by a RA commanding a 2000 FPM climb. This climb was initiated, with a maximum altitude reached of approximately 10800 ft MSL at the end of the TA/RA. We descended back down to 10000 ft MSL as previously cleared. During this maneuver, we advised TRACON that we were deviating from 10000 ft MSL because of this TA/RA.

Title: FLC OF ACR WDB ACFT CLBED ABOVE ASSIGNED ALT IN RESPONSE TO A TCASII RA.
Narrative: LAX APCH CALLED VFR TFC ESTIMATED 500 FT BELOW US AT OUR 1 O'CLOCK POS AND CLOSING AFTER WE HAD LEVELED OFF AT AN ASSIGNED 10000 FT MSL. SHORTLY THEREAFTER WE RECEIVED A TA ON OUR TCASII, FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY A RA COMMANDING A 2000 FPM CLB. THIS CLB WAS INITIATED, WITH A MAX ALT REACHED OF APPROX 10800 FT MSL AT THE END OF THE TA/RA. WE DSNDED BACK DOWN TO 10000 FT MSL AS PREVIOUSLY CLRED. DURING THIS MANEUVER, WE ADVISED TRACON THAT WE WERE DEVIATING FROM 10000 FT MSL BECAUSE OF THIS TA/RA.
