Narrative:
IFR flight from rdu to mrh. Landing gear inoperative upon approach to mrh. Flight handled by approach at cherry point. I was able to extend gear by hand crank. As precautionary response, I elected to land at cherry point. Gear was down and locked, no damage, no problem. There were no FARS violated to my knowledge. Repair station found electric motor had a dead spot. The motor had been replaced. Precautionary landing at cherry point in case gear not locked -- conducted low level fly by before landing. Many thanks to cherry point for their help! There were thunderstorms in the area which influenced my decision to land. 4 hours of fuel on board. 2 persons -- my wife and myself. Great IFR services from cherry point always! I feel that I made good and prudent decisions.
