Narrative:
We departed 8R-atl. Departure control cleared us to 14000 and 270 vector. Company abc departed 8R-atl behind us and departure control (125.7) cleared abc to 17000 ft and 270 degree vector. Both aircraft were then cleared to atl center 134.95. We were cleared to 17000 ft. I asked the first officer to verify our clearance to 17000 and aircraft separation. At 16300 we had a TCASII conflict. We leveled at 16700 while trying to get ZTL. ZTL instructed us to descend to 16000 ft and abc to climb to FL230. Both radio monitoring and TCASII prevented a possible mid air.

Title: 2 ACFT, SAME COMPANY DEPARTED IN SEQUENCE. WHEN HANDED OFF CLRNC WERE MIXED UP AND TCASII ALERT OCCURRED.
Narrative: WE DEPARTED 8R-ATL. DEP CTL CLRED US TO 14000 AND 270 VECTOR. COMPANY ABC DEPARTED 8R-ATL BEHIND US AND DEP CTL (125.7) CLRED ABC TO 17000 FT AND 270 DEG VECTOR. BOTH ACFT WERE THEN CLRED TO ATL CTR 134.95. WE WERE CLRED TO 17000 FT. I ASKED THE FO TO VERIFY OUR CLRNC TO 17000 AND ACFT SEPARATION. AT 16300 WE HAD A TCASII CONFLICT. WE LEVELED AT 16700 WHILE TRYING TO GET ZTL. ZTL INSTRUCTED US TO DSND TO 16000 FT AND ABC TO CLB TO FL230. BOTH RADIO MONITORING AND TCASII PREVENTED A POSSIBLE MID AIR.
