Narrative:

Picked up passenger at san carlos. Destination: ashland, or. Had a late start due to slow fueling problem at sql. Contacted, I believe, oakland approach. They told me to remain clear of TCA. Gave me another frequency to contact, which I did. I thought that once I was in contact with that facility, they were aware of where I was and were radar vectoring me, therefore, that I was not in violation of the TCA. I was then told that I had penetrated TCA without permission and given a number to call on landing, which I did. I explained the circumstances and apologized for the misunderstanding. They gave me a warning for the future, and took information from me.

Title: TCA PENETRATION BY SMA VFR ACFT.

Narrative: PICKED UP PAX AT SAN CARLOS. DEST: ASHLAND, OR. HAD A LATE START DUE TO SLOW FUELING PROBLEM AT SQL. CONTACTED, I BELIEVE, OAKLAND APCH. THEY TOLD ME TO REMAIN CLR OF TCA. GAVE ME ANOTHER FREQ TO CONTACT, WHICH I DID. I THOUGHT THAT ONCE I WAS IN CONTACT WITH THAT FACILITY, THEY WERE AWARE OF WHERE I WAS AND WERE RADAR VECTORING ME, THEREFORE, THAT I WAS NOT IN VIOLATION OF THE TCA. I WAS THEN TOLD THAT I HAD PENETRATED TCA WITHOUT PERMISSION AND GIVEN A NUMBER TO CALL ON LNDG, WHICH I DID. I EXPLAINED THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND APOLOGIZED FOR THE MISUNDERSTANDING. THEY GAVE ME A WARNING FOR THE FUTURE, AND TOOK INFO FROM ME.
