Narrative:

Flight crew scheduling forced me to accept an assignment which I believe was in violation of far 121.471. Specifically, my company did not provide me a 24 hour rest period in 7 days of flying. Their interpretation of far 121.471 involves 24 hour blocks of time to make up 7 days -- not normal calendar days from midnight to midnight as my and alpa's interpretation of far 121.471 indicates. My duty began at XA40 msp local time on 9/X/92 and completed at XB00 msp local time on 10/X/92. During this '7 day' period of duty I was not granted a 24 hour rest period, in fact the average rest period was about 12 hours or less each night. Crew scheduling indicated they did not have any other pilots available and I must continue to fly.
