Narrative:

Final approach to landing lax. Nose gear indicated unsafe (no green). Go around initiated approximately 1000 AGL -- emergency declared. Captain briefed copilot first officer xi, #1 flight attendant to prepare passenger for possible emergency landing and evacuate/evacuation. Captain flew aircraft and communicated with ATC. Emergency procedures accomplished -- nose gear actual position could not be confirmed. Landing accomplished -- nose gear held off, then nose smoothly and gently lowered, nose gear made normal contact with ground. Full length of runway used -- ground spoilers manually extended, no reverse, min braking used to stop aircraft at end of runway. After stop, only brakes set, maintenance inserted gear pins (nose gear cockpit indication still unsafe when turned over to maintenance). Debrief of crew accomplished by myself. I was debriefed by chief pilot.
