Narrative:
While conducting multi-engine/single engine procedure we inadvertently climbed to 4200 in an area which may have been within the TCA (dfw). We were unable to verify as our DME was inoperative. We immediately descended and turned toward a heading away from the TCA.

Title: MULTI ENG INSTRUCTOR WITH STUDENT ENTERS TCA WITHOUT CONTACT.
Narrative: WHILE CONDUCTING MULTI-ENG/SINGLE ENG PROC WE INADVERTENTLY CLBED TO 4200 IN AN AREA WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN WITHIN THE TCA (DFW). WE WERE UNABLE TO VERIFY AS OUR DME WAS INOP. WE IMMEDIATELY DSNDED AND TURNED TOWARD A HDG AWAY FROM THE TCA.
