Narrative:
I was providing flight following for a VFR small aircraft at 6500. On the slc 337/31 I lost the small aircraft's transponder. I called hill field's gci controllers and learned that they were still receiving the small aircraft's transponder. I did not get the transponder for 8 mi.

Title: CTLR LOSES DATA BLOCK ON AN SMA THAT WAS RECEIVING FLT FOLLOWING SVCS.
Narrative: I WAS PROVIDING FLT FOLLOWING FOR A VFR SMA AT 6500. ON THE SLC 337/31 I LOST THE SMA'S TRANSPONDER. I CALLED HILL FIELD'S GCI CTLRS AND LEARNED THAT THEY WERE STILL RECEIVING THE SMA'S TRANSPONDER. I DID NOT GET THE TRANSPONDER FOR 8 MI.
