Narrative:

We were proceeding direct to the locator OM for the ILS 30R bfl when approach cleared us from 16000 to 10000. IFR traffic was called to us at 2 O'clock and converging. Distracted by the search for traffic, we descended 400 ft below our assigned altitude before ATC pointed out our mistake. Corrective action was immediately taken. IFR separation was violated. The traffic was in sight by the time our mistake was discovered. Contributing factors were: the hotel that morning had missed my wake-up call. Forcing me to skip a shower, shave, breakfast and coffee and making us rush to make a departure. We were operating on reduced rest, making us less than sharp.
