Narrative:
We were slowed to 210 KTS, level 10000 ft and being radar vectored for a visual approach to runways 17 when we received an RA to 'climb, increase climb'. I was the PF and immediately complied with the TCASII RA. The aural warning that accompanied the resolution was so loud that both of us (pilots) were unable to communicate with ATC and advise them of our deviation from our assigned altitude. A total gain of approximately 1000 ft before the RA terminated. Advised ATC and returned to previously cleared altitude. I recommend that all aural warnings after the initial TCASII warning be suppressed to a reduced aural level.
