Narrative:
Upon takeoff out of atl airport, power was advanced to takeoff setting and crosswind controls were applied. Captain stated he saw 'spoiler deployed' message and initiated abort. After clearing runway and referencing checklist, brake energy limits, and company's decision tree, we then ran a flight control check and system checked normal. Taxied back for another takeoff which was uneventful. Did not make an 'information only' write-up due to company memo. Upon arrival to dfw we discovered that the 'spoiler deployed' message should not have come on with the power in the takeoff setting. Should have returned to gate to have maintenance look at it. This problem should be in the checklist for future reference and a write-up should have been made. A cidr was filed.
