Narrative:

Entering downwind for landing, the unfamiliarity of cancelling IFR using unicom while talking to wilmington approach led to some cockpit confusion and then the wrong unicom frequency was used. Captain had never gone into an airport without an operating control tower. It is not that common for an air carrier to go into a field with only unicom. I recommend that during simulator training that sits be given to simulate operating into an uncontrolled airport. I.e., using unicom VFR traffic pattern technique discussion. A refresher of all that private pilot information that acrs rarely use.
