Narrative:

119.05 is ATIS frequency for sgf. 119.05 also used by dfw arrival traffic for dfw approach. If you are descending into sgf and above 8000 ft MSL, obtaining the ATIS is next to impossible because traffic inbound to dfw blocks it out. If you wait until below 8000 ft MSL on descent, you're too close to safely leave the frequency. I talked with tower supervisor about it and he told me that there was nothing that he can do. All that needs to be done is to change the ATIS frequency. Can you cut through all the bureaucratic horse-pucky and get this done?

Narrative: 119.05 IS ATIS FREQ FOR SGF. 119.05 ALSO USED BY DFW ARR TFC FOR DFW APCH. IF YOU ARE DSNDING INTO SGF AND ABOVE 8000 FT MSL, OBTAINING THE ATIS IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE TFC INBOUND TO DFW BLOCKS IT OUT. IF YOU WAIT UNTIL BELOW 8000 FT MSL ON DSCNT, YOU'RE TOO CLOSE TO SAFELY LEAVE THE FREQ. I TALKED WITH TWR SUPVR ABOUT IT AND HE TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT HE CAN DO. ALL THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE IS TO CHANGE THE ATIS FREQ. CAN YOU CUT THROUGH ALL THE BUREAUCRATIC HORSE-PUCKY AND GET THIS DONE?
