Narrative:
We are a small corp flight operation. 4 pilots, a mechanic, a jet, a turboprop and 4 helicopters. I am the newest pilot (2 yrs) and the youngest (age 50). The others have been here for 16 yrs to 31 yrs. We are all 'dual-qualified' in both airplanes and helicopters and we all fly as 'equal' co-capts. The aviation manager/chief pilot is one of those guys that is pretty hard to get along with. (5 other pilots fired/quit in the 7 yrs he has been in charge). He is authoritarian, always right, never wrong, proud of his own performance and hyper-critical of everyone else. During my crew training with him last week in the simulator, I saw his performance stretched to the limit. In stressful in-flight sits with multiple problems he could not cope. With his brain loaded to the limit his normal fine finesse on the controls became crude and very rough. Because he is always right and never wrong he became (not just angry) but 'enraged' at the simulator instructor. Twice (in-flight) he slammed the power levers back, slammed the gear handle down, screamed at the instructor about how the simulator was F_____ up, and then threatened to terminate all training at that very moment. This was my first time to train in the simulator with this chief pilot. The other pilots here tell me this happens frequently. Because this guy is chief pilot and because he spends 15,000 to 20,000 dollars per yr, the training facility doesn't want to P___ him off. I'm not a psychiatrist, but, this looks to me like a pretty severe personality defect that should (permanently) disqualify him from flying. But there is nothing that I can do about it!

Title: RPT OF A CORP CHIEF PLT WHO IS A MARTINET BUT WHOSE OWN ABILITY IS MARGINAL.
Narrative: WE ARE A SMALL CORP FLT OP. 4 PLTS, A MECH, A JET, A TURBOPROP AND 4 HELIS. I AM THE NEWEST PLT (2 YRS) AND THE YOUNGEST (AGE 50). THE OTHERS HAVE BEEN HERE FOR 16 YRS TO 31 YRS. WE ARE ALL 'DUAL-QUALIFIED' IN BOTH AIRPLANES AND HELIS AND WE ALL FLY AS 'EQUAL' CO-CAPTS. THE AVIATION MGR/CHIEF PLT IS ONE OF THOSE GUYS THAT IS PRETTY HARD TO GET ALONG WITH. (5 OTHER PLTS FIRED/QUIT IN THE 7 YRS HE HAS BEEN IN CHARGE). HE IS AUTHORITARIAN, ALWAYS RIGHT, NEVER WRONG, PROUD OF HIS OWN PERFORMANCE AND HYPER-CRITICAL OF EVERYONE ELSE. DURING MY CREW TRAINING WITH HIM LAST WK IN THE SIMULATOR, I SAW HIS PERFORMANCE STRETCHED TO THE LIMIT. IN STRESSFUL INFLT SITS WITH MULTIPLE PROBS HE COULD NOT COPE. WITH HIS BRAIN LOADED TO THE LIMIT HIS NORMAL FINE FINESSE ON THE CTLS BECAME CRUDE AND VERY ROUGH. BECAUSE HE IS ALWAYS RIGHT AND NEVER WRONG HE BECAME (NOT JUST ANGRY) BUT 'ENRAGED' AT THE SIMULATOR INSTRUCTOR. TWICE (INFLT) HE SLAMMED THE PWR LEVERS BACK, SLAMMED THE GEAR HANDLE DOWN, SCREAMED AT THE INSTRUCTOR ABOUT HOW THE SIMULATOR WAS F_____ UP, AND THEN THREATENED TO TERMINATE ALL TRAINING AT THAT VERY MOMENT. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME TO TRAIN IN THE SIMULATOR WITH THIS CHIEF PLT. THE OTHER PLTS HERE TELL ME THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. BECAUSE THIS GUY IS CHIEF PLT AND BECAUSE HE SPENDS 15,000 TO 20,000 DOLLARS PER YR, THE TRAINING FACILITY DOESN'T WANT TO P___ HIM OFF. I'M NOT A PSYCHIATRIST, BUT, THIS LOOKS TO ME LIKE A PRETTY SEVERE PERSONALITY DEFECT THAT SHOULD (PERMANENTLY) DISQUALIFY HIM FROM FLYING. BUT THERE IS NOTHING THAT I CAN DO ABOUT IT!
