Narrative:
Cleared for approach to runway 6L. WX in area moderate to severe turbulence reported by other aircraft. So briefed captain on ATIS information while I flew and navigated around WX and approach vectors. I briefed for the approach to runway 6L with the depicted frequencys on the approach plate. On approach with 40 degrees crab to localizer and moderate to severe turbulence, tower reports 55 KTS direct crosswind. Approach continued. Breakout at 500 ft to runway 6R. Captain called tower to confirm runway. We were cleared to runway 6L approach but now cleared to land on runway 6R. Landing uneventful. Captain reports to tower ILS is lined up with runway 6R. Tower reports frequency to runway 6L changed to 108.5 and denoted on ATIS. So admits to not briefing the frequency change but is mentioned under WX NOTAMS on landing data card.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: WDB MAKES APCH TO WRONG, PARALLEL RWY. LNDG WITH XWIND EXCEEDING MAX.
Narrative: CLRED FOR APCH TO RWY 6L. WX IN AREA MODERATE TO SEVERE TURB RPTED BY OTHER ACFT. SO BRIEFED CAPT ON ATIS INFO WHILE I FLEW AND NAVIGATED AROUND WX AND APCH VECTORS. I BRIEFED FOR THE APCH TO RWY 6L WITH THE DEPICTED FREQS ON THE APCH PLATE. ON APCH WITH 40 DEGS CRAB TO LOC AND MODERATE TO SEVERE TURB, TWR RPTS 55 KTS DIRECT XWIND. APCH CONTINUED. BREAKOUT AT 500 FT TO RWY 6R. CAPT CALLED TWR TO CONFIRM RWY. WE WERE CLRED TO RWY 6L APCH BUT NOW CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 6R. LNDG UNEVENTFUL. CAPT RPTS TO TWR ILS IS LINED UP WITH RWY 6R. TWR RPTS FREQ TO RWY 6L CHANGED TO 108.5 AND DENOTED ON ATIS. SO ADMITS TO NOT BRIEFING THE FREQ CHANGE BUT IS MENTIONED UNDER WX NOTAMS ON LNDG DATA CARD.
