Narrative:
I was taxiing sbound on taxiway a as a PIC of an medium large transport and missed the turn onto taxiway B10 which led to the approach end of runway 36L which was my departure runway. I wound up on some kind of ex-taxiway or service road, and did a 180 degree turn as discreetly as possible and got back to where I belonged. I did not realize my mistake, we were almost abeam the runway threshold and I saw the threshold lights. My mind was preoccupied with having a passenger in the cockpit who was my employer's vice president of human resources (no caps intended), who is the company's front man in the termination of pilots and who represents management with many disputes with the pilot group. The end of taxiway a is not distinctly marked. I had also been distracted by confusion with the ATC ground controller and the aircraft first officer and had to explain the difference to the first officer between an small aircraft X and an small aircraft Y. He was an ex-military type -- so he claimed.

I WOUND UP ON SOME KIND OF EX-TXWY OR SVC ROAD, AND DID A 180 DEG TURN AS DISCREETLY AS POSSIBLE AND GOT BACK TO WHERE I BELONGED. I DID NOT REALIZE MY MISTAKE, WE WERE ALMOST ABEAM THE RWY THRESHOLD AND I SAW THE THRESHOLD LIGHTS. MY MIND WAS PREOCCUPIED WITH HAVING A PAX IN THE COCKPIT WHO WAS MY EMPLOYER'S VICE PRESIDENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES (NO CAPS INTENDED), WHO IS THE COMPANY'S FRONT MAN IN THE TERMINATION OF PLTS AND WHO REPRESENTS MGMNT WITH MANY DISPUTES WITH THE PLT GROUP.
