Narrative:

After engine start, I adjusted my seat to a full up and forward position. This allowed me to view the area just aft of the radome, where I noticed a small piece of sheet metal bent up. We called maintenance and they came out with a truck with a lift on the back. They viewed the sheet metal and we elected to return to the gate. The aircraft was taken OTS. With respect to observing this during a walk around, further investigation shows that a position well outside of a standard walk around pattern is required to view this area. An inspection of the aircraft nose area from the cockpit prior to an external walk around would eliminate this type of problem.
