Narrative:

Prior to the maintenance test flight for a 'C' check, I questioned the maintenance supervisor as to the airworthiness of the aircraft and was assured that it was and all documentation was in order. I ended up questioning this point twice because the logbook for the aircraft was inadvertently not placed onboard and I asked via radio prior to moving the aircraft if we were 'legal.' again, I was assured that we were. Subsequent to the flight, I discovered that the proper entries had not been made in accordance with maintenance procedures.

Title: ACR PIC ACCEPTS ACFT OUT OF MAINT WITHOUT LOGBOOK AND TAKES SUPVR'S WORD THAT ACFT MET AIRWORTHINESS STANDARDS. FLIES ACFT ON TEST FLT.

Narrative: PRIOR TO THE MAINT TEST FLT FOR A 'C' CHK, I QUESTIONED THE MAINT SUPVR AS TO THE AIRWORTHINESS OF THE ACFT AND WAS ASSURED THAT IT WAS AND ALL DOCUMENTATION WAS IN ORDER. I ENDED UP QUESTIONING THIS POINT TWICE BECAUSE THE LOGBOOK FOR THE ACFT WAS INADVERTENTLY NOT PLACED ONBOARD AND I ASKED VIA RADIO PRIOR TO MOVING THE ACFT IF WE WERE 'LEGAL.' AGAIN, I WAS ASSURED THAT WE WERE. SUBSEQUENT TO THE FLT, I DISCOVERED THAT THE PROPER ENTRIES HAD NOT BEEN MADE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MAINT PROCS.
