Narrative:
I was PIC in an light transport. WX was VFR, ceiling and visibility unlimited. No flight plan was filed for the flight to be conducted from farmingdale, ny (frg) to bradley, ct (bdl). I was flying from the left seat, and the sole operator of flight controls. When takeoff was initiated on runway 1, all was normal. However, at V1 plus 5 KTS, approximately 1/2 way down the runway, I saw birds above and ahead of us. Being past V1, and realizing that the runway was half gone, I elected to rotate and stay in ground effect at normal vr speed. The first officer confirmed my comment to continue and said 'I see the birds.' the aircraft accelerated rapidly in ground effect at its light weight, and when past the birds, I initiated a climb attitude of approximately 18 degrees. I passed over several other birds during the climb and leveled off at 1400 ft MSL, and was instructed by the tower to call VFR departure. The birds seen were light in color, and may have been hard to see from the tower. My purpose of filing this report is to increase controller vigilance to the presence of birds. I feel I came close to ingesting birds on this takeoff. The close proximity of a landfill may be a factor in this case.

Title: LTT ENCOUNTERS FLOCK OF BIRDS AT TKOF.
Narrative: I WAS PIC IN AN LTT. WX WAS VFR, CEILING AND VISIBILITY UNLIMITED. NO FLT PLAN WAS FILED FOR THE FLT TO BE CONDUCTED FROM FARMINGDALE, NY (FRG) TO BRADLEY, CT (BDL). I WAS FLYING FROM THE L SEAT, AND THE SOLE OPERATOR OF FLT CTLS. WHEN TKOF WAS INITIATED ON RWY 1, ALL WAS NORMAL. HOWEVER, AT V1 PLUS 5 KTS, APPROX 1/2 WAY DOWN THE RWY, I SAW BIRDS ABOVE AND AHEAD OF US. BEING PAST V1, AND REALIZING THAT THE RWY WAS HALF GONE, I ELECTED TO ROTATE AND STAY IN GND EFFECT AT NORMAL VR SPD. THE FO CONFIRMED MY COMMENT TO CONTINUE AND SAID 'I SEE THE BIRDS.' THE ACFT ACCELERATED RAPIDLY IN GND EFFECT AT ITS LIGHT WT, AND WHEN PAST THE BIRDS, I INITIATED A CLB ATTITUDE OF APPROX 18 DEGS. I PASSED OVER SEVERAL OTHER BIRDS DURING THE CLB AND LEVELED OFF AT 1400 FT MSL, AND WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE TWR TO CALL VFR DEP. THE BIRDS SEEN WERE LIGHT IN COLOR, AND MAY HAVE BEEN HARD TO SEE FROM THE TWR. MY PURPOSE OF FILING THIS RPT IS TO INCREASE CTLR VIGILANCE TO THE PRESENCE OF BIRDS.
