Narrative:

Flying VFR from mustang island airport to dallas addison. Initially headed toward austin for fuel but decided had enough fuel to make dallas so went direct to dallas. WX initially required 3500 ft maximum altitude. Altitude too low to use flight following. Center tried and eventually gave me a VFR squawk. I noticed waco airport on direct route to dallas addison in my flight path. Decided to deviate to the east to avoid the field to the east of waco. I noticed traffic in the area and decided to call flight following reporting my position and asking for flight following on into dallas. Apparently, I went over the newly enacted restr airspace for the problem at the branch davidian headquarters. Frankly, not even recalling that this matter was still going on and not being aware of where the restr airspace was. I had obtained new maps prior to my departure earlier in the week from dallas to check on restr airspaces along my intended route of flight. Nothing for this area was shown on my maps.

Narrative: FLYING VFR FROM MUSTANG ISLAND ARPT TO DALLAS ADDISON. INITIALLY HEADED TOWARD AUSTIN FOR FUEL BUT DECIDED HAD ENOUGH FUEL TO MAKE DALLAS SO WENT DIRECT TO DALLAS. WX INITIALLY REQUIRED 3500 FT MAX ALT. ALT TOO LOW TO USE FLT FOLLOWING. CTR TRIED AND EVENTUALLY GAVE ME A VFR SQUAWK. I NOTICED WACO ARPT ON DIRECT RTE TO DALLAS ADDISON IN MY FLT PATH. DECIDED TO DEVIATE TO THE E TO AVOID THE FIELD TO THE E OF WACO. I NOTICED TFC IN THE AREA AND DECIDED TO CALL FLT FOLLOWING RPTING MY POS AND ASKING FOR FLT FOLLOWING ON INTO DALLAS. APPARENTLY, I WENT OVER THE NEWLY ENACTED RESTR AIRSPACE FOR THE PROB AT THE BRANCH DAVIDIAN HEADQUARTERS. FRANKLY, NOT EVEN RECALLING THAT THIS MATTER WAS STILL GOING ON AND NOT BEING AWARE OF WHERE THE RESTR AIRSPACE WAS. I HAD OBTAINED NEW MAPS PRIOR TO MY DEP EARLIER IN THE WK FROM DALLAS TO CHK ON RESTR AIRSPACES ALONG MY INTENDED RTE OF FLT. NOTHING FOR THIS AREA WAS SHOWN ON MY MAPS.
