Narrative:

After attempting contact on 122.8, 122.7, 123.0 with no reply, we set up an approach to landing and at 400 ft we observed another aircraft on the runway so we pulled up and went around, circled the field, and came in and landed. Prior to landing, we checked both the wind sock and tetrahedron which showed runway 27 as the active. As we taxied in, we rechked the tetrahedron and wind sock and both showed runway 27 as the active. An individual contacted us as we left the aircraft and said they had established traffic on runway 9. On our way up from detroit we used both radios with the control tower at willow run, approach control at lansing, mi. When we left mt pleasant on our way home, it took us 3 calls to establish contact with mt pleasant unicom. Suggest when they change traffic opposite the wind indicators they tie down the tetrahedron.

Title: PLT OF SMA SEL ACFT MADE A GAR WHEN OBSERVING AN ACFT USING THE OPPOSITE END OF THE RWY FOR LNDG.

Narrative: AFTER ATTEMPTING CONTACT ON 122.8, 122.7, 123.0 WITH NO REPLY, WE SET UP AN APCH TO LNDG AND AT 400 FT WE OBSERVED ANOTHER ACFT ON THE RWY SO WE PULLED UP AND WENT AROUND, CIRCLED THE FIELD, AND CAME IN AND LANDED. PRIOR TO LNDG, WE CHKED BOTH THE WIND SOCK AND TETRAHEDRON WHICH SHOWED RWY 27 AS THE ACTIVE. AS WE TAXIED IN, WE RECHKED THE TETRAHEDRON AND WIND SOCK AND BOTH SHOWED RWY 27 AS THE ACTIVE. AN INDIVIDUAL CONTACTED US AS WE LEFT THE ACFT AND SAID THEY HAD ESTABLISHED TFC ON RWY 9. ON OUR WAY UP FROM DETROIT WE USED BOTH RADIOS WITH THE CTL TWR AT WILLOW RUN, APCH CTL AT LANSING, MI. WHEN WE LEFT MT PLEASANT ON OUR WAY HOME, IT TOOK US 3 CALLS TO ESTABLISH CONTACT WITH MT PLEASANT UNICOM. SUGGEST WHEN THEY CHANGE TFC OPPOSITE THE WIND INDICATORS THEY TIE DOWN THE TETRAHEDRON.
