Narrative:
On approach into dca, on a mount vernon arrival, about 15 DME and at 3500 ft, we received a TA from TCASII. Target was below, at about 3000 ft AGL. Seconds later the TA changed to an RA and a climb was initiated to about 4100 ft, when clear of conflict was heard. When we reached 4100 ft we were 13.2 DME from dca VOR. Did not visually see the traffic. Reported to dca approach TCASII altitude deviation and landed uneventfully.

Title: ALTDEV ALT EXCURSION.
Narrative: ON APCH INTO DCA, ON A MOUNT VERNON ARR, ABOUT 15 DME AND AT 3500 FT, WE RECEIVED A TA FROM TCASII. TARGET WAS BELOW, AT ABOUT 3000 FT AGL. SECONDS LATER THE TA CHANGED TO AN RA AND A CLB WAS INITIATED TO ABOUT 4100 FT, WHEN CLR OF CONFLICT WAS HEARD. WHEN WE REACHED 4100 FT WE WERE 13.2 DME FROM DCA VOR. DID NOT VISUALLY SEE THE TFC. RPTED TO DCA APCH TCASII ALTDEV AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY.
