Narrative:
Was at 6000 ft being vectored for approach to ewr. Received a TCASII alert. Noticed an aircraft closing us and climbing up towards out altitude. Alert became a TCASII resolution advising us to descend immediately. I did and dove to 5200 ft. At that time ATC advised us that the VFR aircraft had us visually. I filed a report with my company and also talked to newark approach on the telephone.
